OK GOONZ . . .

HERE'S WHAT'S ON DECK FOR NEXT WEEK:

WELCOME TO NINE WEEKS II. CONGRATULATIONS FOR HANGING IN THERE.

Here is your ESSAY PROMPT for next week, Block Day, 24-25 October:

The end of the War of 1812 ushered in a cultural change among the American people. To what extent did social, political, and economic factors contribute to this cultural shift?  Of these three factors, which was the most influential and why?

Start looking through your notes and developing your essay: context, your arguement, data dump . . . you will NOT be able to use any oputside material (notes, etc) on the essay. Be ready.

REMEMBER:

IF YOU MISS CLASS IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO REMAIN CURRENT. NOT BEING IN CLASS IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR NOT BEING PREPARED; STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY OF A MAJOR PART OF COLLEGE.

SCALIASWORLD is the official website of AP US History and Dual Credit US History taught by Joseph M. Scalia at Kingwood High School.  Its purpose is to provide an online extension to the classroom experience; access to the site is requisite to success in these classes.

FOR ALL PRACTICAL PURPOSES THIS SITE IS BOTH YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL FOR THE CLASS AS WELL AS YOUR TEXTBOOK.

Dual Credit US History is offered under the auspices and direction of LoneStar College at Kingwood.

This a video from my latest favorite band, Black Stone Cherry, a Southern hard rock group out of Kentucky. This song, "In My Blood'" is a tribute to regular, everyday (yeoman if you will) people who choose to serve their country, and the sacrifices they have to make in order to do so.  Worth a watch.
